Woensdag 21 mei presenteert FilmZeit Rotterdam de film ‘Folsom Forever‘ met als gastspreker Pieter Claeys (Mr. Leather Europe 2009), in Kriterion Rotterdam, Zomerhofstraat 76-90 (ingang om de hoek in de Schoterboshof). De voertaal is Engels. De film (trailer: klik hier) gaat terug naar San Francisco in 1984, toen de angst voor aids als een natte deken over de gay community hing en er op een bescheiden straatfeestje geld werd ingezameld voor aids-charity. Dat feestje groeide uit tot het grootste open air kink- en fetisj-event tere wereld en heeft sindsdien veel goeds verricht (bron: persbericht).
FilmZeit is a monthly sex-positive cinema night with screenings in Kriterion and Worm, which are both located in Rotterdam. We aim to provide an opportunity to watch interesting movies and documentaries with like-minded people, and discuss it afterwards over a drink at the bar. These nights are meant to be fun and low-key. In 1984, a scrappy little neighborhood in San Francisco – home to many low-income tenants and the heart of the gay male leather scene – faced destruction from the bulldozers of redevelopment and the AIDS crisis. The Folsom Street Fair was started to call attention to gentrification and raise money for AIDS charities. FOLSOM FOREVER tells the story of how this small street fair grew into the biggest outdoor kink and fetish event in the world, and managed to do a lot of good along the way.
This evening’s guestspeaker is Pieter Claeys, Mr. Leather Europe 2009. He is of the driving forces behind the annual Mr. Leather Amsterdam contest in the Netherlands, as well as the Amsterdam Leather Pride and Amsterdam Fetish Pride. He will tell us something about the origin and course of fetish prides in the Netherlands, such as the leather pride which has been around since 1996. Afterwards the audience has the opportunity to ask questions.
